I’ve read some of Oswald Chambers work before and generally enjoyed it. I had no idea that’s what he looked like. Apparently you learn something new every day!

    E.B.,

Thanks for the Oswald endorsement! Our Pastor has been known to quote Oswald on several occasions; and I’ve been a bit curious to read some of his works. Still trying to make my way through Lewis’ Mere Christianityright now. MC hasn’t grabbed my attention as much as The Screwtape Letters did, then again MC almost reads like a lecture vs. a story, IMO.

Hopefully we do learn something new & useful everyday. :)

    on another note…

Congratulation to you on the Penguins winning the Stanley Cup! So far it’s been an awesome year for me as a “fan”… The Steelers taking the Superbowl, The Tarheels winning the NCAA Championship, my Lakers bring home the NBA trophy and to some degree the Penguins; though I lean more to Dallas or Colorado for NHL; whenever I do watch.

Grace and peace be with you.

I really loved Mere Christianity . Although I might consider it Lewis’ second greatest work. The Screwtape Letters were so brilliantly insightful and so cleverly written it’s hard to top them.

Yes, thanks for the congratulations. The Penguins were a very unexpected surprise. It’s hard to watch Hockey here in OH. But I never expected them to reach the Finals this year. Awesome year for Pittsburgh. :) I am already gearing up for the NFL.

    E.B.,

I like your choice of words (’brilliant”) in describing The Screwtape Letters. I think what captured my attention so much was in being able to relate to the schemes of the devil that C.S. Lewis described; seeing how I myself have been tempted and tricked. Another thing about The Screwtape Letters that grabbed me was how C.S. drew me into the “story”; I could see the events as if being played back on the Big Screen. “Hmmmm… there’s a thought.”

84 days, 3 hours and 9 minutes ’til kickoff. :)

BTW: I haven’t fallen off the earth or given up on this blog, just been a little busy and a lot distracted lately.

Grace and peace be with you

    Hey Christopher,

Just wanted to stop by and say hi and I hear you in regards to being a little busy lately - me too.

But I myself am a big fan of Oswald Chambers. One of my favorite daily devotionals is his, “My Utmost For His Highest” and has been for years. It seems I always get something new from it every time I read it. I do want to eventually pick up Blackaby’s though. And “oh yeah! The Screwtape Letters!” I still need to read that but I seem to keep getting distracted by other books lately.

Anyway, hope you’re doing well and having a good summer. ttyl and God’s blessings!

    ~Jen
