WordPress Woes

Just a quick not to let visitors know that I plan on returning to regular posting within a few days.
Last week, I took the plunge into the WordPress 2.6 upgrade… as some visitors may have already figured out, the upgrade did not go well, as the blog was down between the 29th & 31st of July.
I got double whammied; my SQL database files & the WordPress XML files were only partially of use in recover efforts.
It appears that a few posts and comments were lost from the days leading up to the outage, so I’m spending the next few evenings inputting comments that we’re recoverable but that did not import back into WordpPress correctly.
Anywho, I should be back to posting regularly this Wednesday or Thursday.
Until then…
Grace and peace be with you.
I feel your pain, Time Warner took my cable modem and then deleted my email account (with emails!) this week. And I’m still a paying customer! Technology why have you betrayed me!

No internet & lost emails!!!! My lil’ WordPress woes pale in comparison.. I mean it’s your constitutional right to have Hi-Speed internet service, isn’t’ it ?!?! Great piece by the way on seeing the opportunity to apply a little patience to your own technology troubles.
I feel your pain in losing the emails. Will the world end because of it? No, I imagine though that it’s just the idea of having the stuff lost. Hmm, makes me think of God’s desire for not loosing any of His sheep.
My suggestion is to set up POP access on that email account of your’s along with Web Mail access, that way you can download your email locally to your favored email client (Thunderbird,Outlook, Lookout Express, etc), thus having a backup of those important emails, because ya never know when technology is gonna bite you in the rear.
Seriously,it’s not as much a technology issue in general for me, as it is a
distrustreservation toward dumping all of my eggs into the web based apps basket.Grace and peace E.B.
Well I am pretty sure the Founding Fathers debated that it should be a fundamental right.
There’s no question technology can be a pain, and I actually have a POP account set up with the previously deleted account, but I just haven’t used it (it’s on a computer I never turn on, lol). I just never expected them to delete the email of an active customer! Forget Buddy Jesus, where’s IT Jesus when you need him!
I think God can take any situation and teach us something important, so that’s the attitude I tried to take with this whole mess. Fortunately, I did learn a few important things.
Christopher says:
E.B., well good for you! I think what you’re saying gives testimony to Christ, His Power and as Paul put it “a renewing of the mind“. What a blessing it is when we acknowledge the works of the Lord in our lives. Praise God!
Grace and peace be with you E.B.
