Mark 5:24-29
24 So Jesus went with him.  A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed." 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.

How often do we go about our daily lives,by our own means attempting to be cured of our ailments?  Though on the surface the passage speaks of a physical ailment, in some respect what’s being said concerns the condition that ails all of humanity, the need for redemption.  Though the woman had indeed been suffering physically for years, her "cure" came in the form of Christ and only when she reached out to Him.  Likewise, how much time has been wasted holding fast to one’s own ideas and devices concerning their spiritual welfare?

After exhausting all of her resources and left with only her faith in a small touch of Jesus’ cloak delivering her from the terminal suffering endured for over a decade, this woman reached out to Jesus.  Not just literally but figuratively;spiritually she took hold of Christ in her heart.  In that moment of faith she was healed, and yet I’m not certain that what Jesus was illustrating nor always implying was/is an immediate release from our own internal pains and sufferings.  No, I think that His point was to just have faith in Him, and in with that faith the healing process could begin, a spiritual healing that will outlast any healing of these mortal husks that we occupy on this leg of the journey.

Grace and peace be with you.
