Got Fruit(?) Ramblings & News Briefs

It’s been busy around here the past few days, both at work and with church activities. This Wednesday evening was especially busy; in addition to the normal Bible study classes, there was a Ministry Team Leader meeting that followed. The meeting was a bit different this month as I had a presentation & brief to give concerning access & use of the church website & blog.

Things started off on shaky ground. The original plan was to present the info (PowerPoint presentation & live walk-through of site features) in one of the classrooms on the other side of the church. That went up in flames as there was no Internet access available in the classroom. So we reverted to having the presentation in the sanctuary. After some more technical difficulties and some brainstorming, things eventually came together from a technical aspect.

Once the presentation got under way, things ran rather smoothly. The church leadership and ministry team leaders responded in a very positive manner to the potential that the technologies presented for enabling them to minister to the congregation beyond the Sunday sermon. In addition to the ministry benefits, we’re hoping that this also proves to compliment communication efforts with the congregation as well; by way of web calendars, email, & the blog.

As I think we’ve all concluded, none of the technologies are meant to be a replacement to traditional fellowship, sermons nor communication, we’re hoping, God willing; that the inclusion & implementation is an effort on our parts to simply maximize the individual leader’s opportunities to have effective and affective ministry.

In other news, I’ve been asked to lead two classes at church, which I’ve accepted. The first class is one of the Adult Sunday School classes, the second is leading the Young Adults Bible Study on Wednesday evening. Uh oh! I don’t think the leadership knows what their getting into. :) This all came about as a result of our present Youth Minister moving on. With the Youth Minister vacating his position, the gentleman that led both of the classes that I’m now filling in for, has been appointed as the interim Youth Minster. So, I may only be doing this for say the summer months, or it could be longer. I’m told that Youth Ministers don’t grow on trees.

I actually caught wind of this conspiracy to get me leading classes about two months ago. At first I laughed it off as someone having received faulty information, then it occurred to me that God basically has me right where He wants me to be. Years ago I couldn’t & wouldn’t have thought it possible to be in this position, due mostly to my faulty perceptions of just what God is capable of doing in one’s life when you let Him drive.

Whatever His purpose and plans are, to Him be all of the praise, glory, and honor.

Grace and peace be with you.
