The Good, The Bad & The Ugly
Most of the past week has been spent revamping the look of the blog. Why… because I’m obsessive compulsive I suppose, at the expense of having a "normal" routine; which means going to sleep sometime before the sun rises.
Things were going well with the revamp, until my fat fingers managed to get in the way, thereby hosing the WordPress install. Good thing I backed up recently.
There was another blog theme that I originally opted to go with last week. I received a few positive comments on it, and would have liked to have used it, however there were some widgets that didn’t function as I anticipated out of the box (after WP2.5 install); getting them to function became too convoluted of an effort for me.
Another negative, was the amount functionality geared toward advertisement. Just not part of the plan to have advertisements blanket the blog, so that had to go.
Another hiccup this weekend, came by way of opting for the WordPress 2.5 upgrade. I read the instructions, (something we guys don’t normally do) and still had issues. I think that’s where the trouble began. Hey, that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it anyway. End result, I couldn’t log on to my WP Dashboard, database was fouled up etc. Did I say "Thank God for Back Ups?".
The next week will be spent re-mapping image links to their respective posts, specifically older posts prior to mid February. Top commenter stats are now displaying properly, with Pistol Pete being the "Top Dog". The "official" count on the race to the 100th commenter is sitting at 79.
With all of that said, Got Fruit has a new theme with a cleaner and leaner feel and is back up and running… of course you would know this already if you happen to be reading this right now wouldn’t you?
Grace and peace be with you.
I actually prefer this layout better than the “temporary” one you had last week. I like the nice, wide, center column. Although that mechanic image will be forever seared into my brain…
My 2.5 upgrade took a while, but everything seems to be working. Glad I didn’t have any issues like you seem to be having.

Glad to hear that the 2.5 upgrade for you went much smoother E.B. Overall I like the new 2.5 Dashboard, minus the quirkiness of managing/editing comments.
Ahh, my plan is working… I figured if the face lift didn’t dazzle loyal
groupiesvisitors then the pic was sure to make today’s visit to Got Fruit(?) memorable.Grace and peace be with you my friend.
Groupies… haha! You are so funny Christopher… I’m a regular! And how is it Pistol Pete is still ahead of me?

Christopher says:
Thanks for checking out the new look. Sorry I had a moment of grandeur, we’ll try not to let that happen again.
Pistol Pete had 4 comments from the latter part of last year that weren’t registering properly due to an improperly configured plug-in. The plug-in wasn’t performing a query on the comments database prior to the day of installation. “Boy genius”, finally figured it out, just before breaking his WP install this weekend.
Grace and peace be with you ~Jen
P.S. The moon is shining!
Oh ya… and welcome to Wordpress! You’ve officially crossed over from… the dark side.
Christopher says:
My young Padawan fast not so …
The blog has been WordPress from the start, albeit the pseudo-version package deal from SBC\Yahoo. I think that the powers that be we’re dragging their feet on letting us get the full blown WP package as it “competed” against Yahoo’s own blogging efforts. So in a nutshell, more features, more chances to break something.
Am I neck and neck yet? Sorry… I can’t stand to think of losing
Okay… signing off for reals this time. Goodnight! and again… the moon is shining!
Christopher says:
Yes you are tied with Pistol Pete as of this moment; you really want to “win” that YUGO that we’re giving away dont ya?
Haha! LOL - I’ll have to tell my daughter it’s a YUGO. She’ll be like, “a what?” “You’ll have to google it.”
and I think this comment officially put’s me ahead! Does Pistol Pete realize what’s at stake? (and you know I’m only kidding).
Anyway Christopher, have a blessed weekend… I’m actually going on a mini vacation to the white sands of Florida - I feel so lucky, fortunate, or something! “Cue the sun!”
Christopher says:
Jen, we may have to declare you the “winner” just based off of sheer effort. If nothing else, for keeping me in stitches.
As for Pistol Pete, I’m not sure that he knows for sure what’s at stake.
To close: #1 Thanks for the weekend wishes, #2; you be safe and be blessed also & C. “Cue the Sun!”… Alex what is The Truman Show - Cristoff
Grace and peace be with you Jen.
