An Easter Egg in November

I happened to be semi-watching a program on TBN last night about this gentleman (a former atheist) that turned to Christ after investigating the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I didn’t have my undivided attention on the program, but would look up every few minutes to catch bits and pieces of his investigation throughout the program.

At the conclusion of the program the gentleman walks off camera toward a massive backdrop portraying Jesus and then the following scripture slowly fades in prior to the end credits rolling:

John 8:32
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

I’m no Da Vinci Code advocate follower nor do I sit around looking for “codes” in the Bible. This is one of those things that just appeared to me, and that I thought was neat. Maybe Walter Sparrow would appreciate this ; )

Take the name “John” which in Hebrew means: God is gracious.

Now consider the number “8″ which in Christianity, is a representation of the following ideas:

  • Christ ’s sacrifice on the cross (Jesus was resurrected on the 8th day)
  • what is beyond time (because the number 7 refers to the days of the week which repeat themselves)
  • the number of Beatitudes

And finally the number “32″… the assumed age at which Jesus Christ was crucified.

After examining the meanings of the book name, it’s numerical chapter and numerical verse for John 8:32 , we get:

John 8:32 (God is gracious, as expressed by giving his only Son as a sacrifice to die on the cross for our sins; he would resurrect his Son from the dead on the 8th day, who died at the age of 32)
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

I wonder if God is sitting up in Heaven having a laugh over this “Easter egg”?
